Adult Lessons

Maybe we don't all want to be an opera
diva or divo, but one thing is sure:
when we sing we feel good!

Anyone can learn to use their natural raw materials better. If you are taking up singing later in life, or you are coming back to it after a break, or if you are seriously starting your career, with consistent practice your your voice will develop. Think of it like going to the gym for your vocal chords, only it's much more enjoyable and fun! With the help of a patient and encouraging teacher you can enjoy the process.

Private Lessons

Private lessons are offered for the more serious amateur and professional who may want to prepare for auditions and other performances or, for those who simply enjoy more attention, the lesson focuses only on you!

In lessons you will cover all aspects of vocal training:

Group

Group lessons cover the same as above. The difference being you are not put on the spot for the entire time and you have the company and support of others like you! Be prepared to have some movement in the classes so wear comfortable clothing. The emphasis is on fun while learning and singing together.

There will be some well-known vocalises (studies for the execution of certain vocal techniques) to learn and you will be given practice tracks to help you with practice.

We will study styles of repertoire from different countries and periods comprising folk, art songs, music theatre and some choral music for part-singing. There will be opportunity to expand your knowledge of the vocal repertoire in this interesting and practical way.

At the end of each course students are encouraged (but not obliged) to perform for the group a song which they have worked on during the 6-8 week term.

Testimonial

"Having my first singing lesson with Laura at age 50 was daunting - but I had no need to worry - Laura instills confidence.  Laura is an accomplished singer and an experienced teacher, who is supportive and patient - I have never felt judged.

I have been singing with University affiliated choirs for many years but felt unable to progress in the choir before meeting Laura.

Over the last 4 months I have had 7 singing lessons, and am excited by the results in this short time. Laura is teaching me correct breathing techniques which means I no longer hurt my vocal chords or throat. An individualised approach means that every lesson has been tailored to my requirements, with Laura creating new exercises for my specific needs. The lessons are inspirational and fun.

Laura has an amazing breadth of knowledge in all areas of vocal music and I feel confident that under her guidance I will continue to improve and enjoy the benefits of an increased vocal range, a stronger voice, better diction and a host of other techniques I've yet to discover. "
