Broadening My Horizons

Dec 21, 2022 | Testimonials

My final year 12 year was as busy as it gets, with preparing for ATAR Music voice practical assessments, exams and University auditions. Over the course of the year, my voice improved substantially, all thanks to Laura’s seamless teaching and expertise, whether that be focussing on a certain scale exercise, vocalise or breaking down a song and really understanding the meaning and story behind the score.

When I started lessons with Laura a year ago, her kind and bright personality made me feel extremely safe in her studio, allowing me to step out of my comfort zone.

I have been singing since a very young age, but Laura was the first person to discover the individual quality of my voice, and has been a pivotal person in my future career aspirations.

I was set on studying musical theatre, and took it as my ATAR specialisation, but Laura introduced me to the world of classical voice to broaden my horizons and increase my opportunities for getting a place in a world-class institution. Soon after I was singing songs in French, extending my range, and fine tuning the clarity of my voice. For my Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and University of Western Australia (UWA) classical voice auditions, Laura rose to the occasion and chose the “perfect” songs to show my shining potential. I have received offers into both WAAPA and UWA Bachelor of Music, majoring in Classical Voice and I am able to pursue my love for singing and learning new genres!
